With the following data protection guidelines we will explain, which personal data we collect about you when you visit this website and use our platform: Our platform gives users the possibility for discussing scientific topics all over the world. To provide our services, we store the user profiles and the articles, files and comments, which are published by the registered users. Every user (regardless of registration) can see all information you have published. In addition, we only collect and store personal data according to the following explanations. If personal data (such as name, e-mail address) are collected on our pages for example to contact us or to sign in, this is done voluntary. However, some data may be required for your request and marked with a “*”. Your data will be kept confidential by us, will only be used to process your request and will not be transferred to third persons. The server on which this website is hosted is located in an external data center of Mittwald, which is certificated. We have concluded a contract (§ 11 BDSG) with the hosting. Data transmissions to government agencies and authorities are only required under mandatory legislation.

Sign in with Facebook, Yahoo, Twitter, Google or Live

In the event that you use the Social Media Buttons to register on our platform, some fields of the registration form will be pre-loaded depending on the data about you stored at the social media providers and your accounts there. In this case, however, you also agree that data about the use of our services will be transmitted automatically to the respective social media provider. We assume that these data are linked to your account at the respective social media provider. Unfortunately we do not know which data exactly are transmitted and in which way or for which purpose they are used..

Community

Users, who have signed in are community members. As a registered user you have a user profile to introduce yourself to the other (not only registered) users. You can also write personal messages to other members or open non-public groups. These can not be read by us (as the provider of this platform). The messages are transferred encrypted (SSL). You can also publish articles, News, Events and comments or upload files, documents or pictures (Editor). These could be read by every user (not only registered one).

Cookies

In our website we use different Cookies: • user-input Cookie (session id), which is used for securing user input in forms for the duration of a session • authentication Cookies, which are used for the identification of a logged in user for the duration of a session • multimedia content player Cookies, which are used for storing technical data for playing video and audio files • Cookies for Piwik (please see “Logging/Piwik”) Cookies are small text files, which are stored on your hard disk only for the duration of your visit to our website and - depending on the setting of your browser program - are deleted after your browser is closed. These cookies do not retrieve information stored on your hard drive and do not affect your PC or your files. Cookies do not contain viruses, trojans or other malicious applications. Most browsers are set to accept cookies automatically. However, you can deactivate the saving of cookies or set your browser to point you to the transmission of cookies.

Logging/Piwik

When using this website (Independent of a registration or the used services) we are logging your IP-address only anonymous. To analyse our traffic we use Piwik, an open source software for statistical evaluation of user access. For this Piwik uses Cookies, small text files, which are stored on the computers. In this connection information about • the used search engine • the used search times • the used languages • the country of the user • the used browser and their plugins • the referrer • the duration of stay • entry and exit pages • abort rates • and IP addresses

The – by the Cookie – generated information are stored in our Webserver (not on the server of Piwik) and would be analysed to optimize our website. The IP address is anonymized immediately after processing and before storage. On the recommendation of the independent state authority for data protection Schleswig-Holstein (ULD) of 15 March 2011, the last two blocks of the IP address are not used. The lifetime of these cookies is normally one week. Users can prevent the installation of cookies by setting their browser software accordingly. In this case, may not all functions of this website be fully usable. By removing the tick in the checkbox you can disagree in the storage of the Cookies. Piwik will then store only a deactivate-Cookie on your computer. Please note, that this Cookie could be deleted when you clean up the stored Cookies in your browser. In this case also if you use another computer or browser you have to deactivate the Cookies with this checkbox again.

We use links to external websites as well as social Media. We have integrated them in such a way, that during your visit on our website no data are transmitted to the provider of the foreign offers.
